Variations of the Internal Asymmetries of Sunspot Groups during Their Decay

Abstract The aim of the present study is to show varying asymmetries during decay sunspot groups. source input data SOHO/MDI-Debrecen Database catalog that contains magnetic polarity for time interval 1996–2010. Several types were examined on selected sample 142 leading–following asymmetry increases in three phases and exhibits anticorrelation with size. It also related a hemispheric asymmetry: decay, area index has higher values southern hemisphere, which may be due activity level hemisphere cycle 23. total umbral inversely proportional umbra/penumbra ratio, but it directly rate.
